Job Description

  • Reports to: Department Manager/General Manager
  • Subordinate staff: None

Main Duties

Handle and execute all accounting transactions at UPO Real Estate in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Prepare and ensure accuracy of consolidated accounting reports and statements.

Major Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining accounting standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts in accordance with accounting standards and taxation requirements.
  • Ensure financial statements are maintained in compliance with the accepted policies and procedures and ensure financial statements deadlines are met.
  • Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses.
  • Prepare accounts payable and accounts receivable statements.
  • Keep track of all cheques generated in accounts payable and all deposits entered into accounts receivable.
  • Review and ensure processing of credit notes.
  • Monitor debtors’ accounts and ensure maintenance of complete records and prompt collection of debts.
  • Maintain track of payment supporting documents and ensure they are appropriately filed and checked.
  • Review incoming invoices for accuracy and attach full supporting documentation.
  • Summarize receivables by maintaining invoice accounts, coordinating monthly transfer to accounts receivable account, verifying totals and preparing reports.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts.
  • Establish accounts receivables and accounts payable filing system.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliation to ensure that the financial data is accurate.
  • Participate in special projects impacting accounting and finance.
  • Practice duties and roles in line with the authorities as illustrated in the authority matrices, and perform other duties related to the job as assigned by the Chief Accountant.

Work Experience

2 years experience in accounting or equivalent.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or any other related field.

Skills, Capabilities and Languages

  • Knowledge of international financial/accounting reporting standards.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English, written and oral.
  • Computer literacy: MS windows applications (word processing, excel, spreadsheets…) and financial accounting applications.

Training

Training courses in financial accounting and reporting standards, time management, performance management and any other related courses.
